Electrical Calibration Technician – Electrical Test Equipment (Defence)
£21.12 – up to £22.12/hour PAYE
In IR35 £28.35 up to £29.70/hour Umbrella

Are you an Electrical Calibration Technician with hands on experience calibrating electrical and electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and power supplies?
Guidant Global is partnering with a leading UK defence organisation to recruit an Electrical Calibration Technician to support the calibration and maintenance of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and Special to Type Test Equipment (STTE) used within a highly regulated, safety critical manufacturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging equipment that directly supports critical defence programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calibrating and maintaining electrical and electronic test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and function generators
- Carrying out initial and routine calibration of COTS and bespoke Special to Type Test Equipment (STTE)
- Ensuring factory and proprietary test equipment remains compliant with documented procedures
- Completing calibration, maintenance and repair activities in line with departmental processes
- Producing accurate, traceable calibration and maintenance records to support audit and quality requirements
- Working collaboratively within a multi disciplined Operations and Engineering environment
What do you need?:
You must hold one of the following:
• Advanced / Level 3 Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Apprenticeship
OR
• Level 3 academic qualification (ONC / Diploma or equivalent)
AND
• Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ)
(NVQ not required if a Level 3 apprenticeship standard has been achieved)
If you have strong, relevant calibration experience in a regulated or manufacturing environment and are unsure on qualification alignment, applications are encouraged for discussion.
Additional Skills:
- Experience calibrating electrical test equipment (e.g. power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators)
- Exposure to calibration of COTS and/or bespoke test equipment
- Ability to produce clear, comprehensive calibration and maintenance documentation
- Understanding of in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment
- Experience working with Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) facilities is desirable
- Comfortable following manufacturer instructions, procedures and quality standards
- Familiarity with SAP or similar systems is beneficial (not essential)
