The Opportunity
Our client, a long‑standing and trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a Microelectronics Assembly Operator to join a highly skilled manufacturing team at their Bolton facility.
This is a hands‑on, precision‑focused role, ideal for candidates with experience in microscope soldering, fine‑pitch components, and circuit card assembly. You will be working in a cleanroom‑style environment, contributing to the manufacture of advanced defence systems where quality, accuracy, and attention to detail are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision assembly and soldering of microelectronic components under a microscope
- Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) and PEC sub‑assembly to defined workmanship standards
- Reading and following detailed manufacturing instructions, layouts, and build documentation
- Self‑certification and supporting quality and traceability requirements
- Working in strict compliance with ESD, health & safety, and quality procedures
Primary focus: Microelectronics and CCA assembly
Additional exposure (training provided): Looming, plastics, and stores/manufacturing control
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience in microelectronics assembly or fine‑pitch soldering
- Confident working under a microscope for extended periods
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and work instructions
- ESD‑trained
Desirable
- IPC‑610 certification
- Experience with crimping tools, cable assembly, or wire looming
- Background in regulated or cleanroom manufacturing environments
- Basic PC and Microsoft Office skills

This job is at our client's site in Bolton facility, one of the North West's leading manufacturing sites for at least 25 years. The facility offers showers and bike racks and is near the motorway, with a petrol station outside. Amenities like an onsite canteen.
