Our client, a leading organisation operating within the defence and advanced technology sector, is seeking an experienced Cyber Threat Operations Specialist to join their Cyber Security function on a long-term contract basis.

Working as part of a highly capable Active Defence and Incident Response team, you will play a key role in identifying, investigating and mitigating cyber threats across a complex enterprise environment. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge security technologies while contributing to the protection of critical systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive threat hunting activities in collaboration with Cyber Threat Intelligence teams
  • Lead detection engineering initiatives, developing and improving threat detection capabilities
  • Monitor, analyse and investigate security events across a range of security platforms
  • Support incident response activities and assist with cyber security investigations
  • Maintain and optimise security monitoring technologies, including SIEM and network monitoring tools
  • Support cyber security projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work closely with security, infrastructure and operational teams across the business
  • Produce reporting, analysis and recommendations to strengthen security posture

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong background within Cyber Security, Network Security and Infrastructure environments
  • Experience with Threat Hunting and Threat Detection Engineering
  • Strong understanding of security operations and defensive cyber methodologies
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols including DNS, HTTP/S, SMTP, FTP/S and LDAP/S
  • Understanding of malware analysis, attack vectors and threat actor techniques
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills

This role requires candidates to be able to work onsite in Stevenage five days per week. Due to the nature of the work, eligibility to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance is required.
