Vetting Officer

Stevenage or Bolton (Hybrid Working) | £26.85 per hour Umbrella | 12-Month Contract (Highly Likely Extension)

We're recruiting for a Vetting Officer to join a well-established organisation operating within the defence and security sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in security vetting, personnel security, or compliance administration to join a busy and growing team supporting the onboarding and management of security-cleared personnel.

Working within a fast-paced security function, you'll be responsible for managing vetting activities, supporting recruitment processes, liaising with external agencies, and ensuring security clearance requirements are progressed efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the processing of BPSS and UKSV security clearances for new starters.
• Manage confidential and complex vetting cases.
• Act as a key point of contact for vetting-related queries and issues.
• Liaise with UKSV and other external security agencies where required.
• Maintain and update clearance information across vetting databases and IT systems.
• Support wider Personnel Security and Security Services activities.
• Assist with the implementation of security vetting strategy and process improvements.
• Contribute to departmental projects and ensure key deadlines are met.

Essential Experience

• Experience of HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to administration.
• Experience using electronic vetting databases and multiple IT systems.
• Positive, proactive and professional attitude.

 

Additional Information

• Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, 3 days from home.
