Windows Engineer
Location: Stevenage
Rate: £67.57 - £74.32 per hour Umbrella
Contract Length: 12 Months (Extension Possible)
Clearance: Active DV Clearance Required
Working Pattern: 100% Onsite
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Windows Engineer to join a leading organisation operating within a highly secure and complex technical environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a critical infrastructure team, supporting and maintaining restricted Windows environments, providing expert technical support and contributing to the ongoing stability, security and performance of key systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide BAU support, administration and configuration management across Windows infrastructure and workplace environments.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance and patching activities.
- Implement changes within Windows environments while minimising operational disruption.
- Manage and maintain asset inventories, documentation and technical knowledge bases.
- Resolve incidents and service requests in line with agreed SLAs.
- Act as Tier 2 / Tier 3 support for complex Windows-related issues.
- Support incident response, investigation, remediation and root cause analysis activities.
- Monitor system performance, security and backups.
- Respond proactively to monitoring alerts and system health issues.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
- Work with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to maintain service excellence.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Active DV Clearance.
- Strong Windows Engineering experience across both infrastructure and workplace environments.
- Hands-on expertise with Windows Server and Windows Operating Systems.
- Experience supporting desktop applications.
- Strong knowledge of virtualisation technologies, including VDI environments.
- Experience with storage solutions.
- Active Directory and Access Management expertise.
