Systems Design Engineer

The UK’s trusted Ministry of Defence partner, our client operates at the forefront of advanced defence innovation. Within the Seeker division, they design and deliver cutting-edge RF Seeker systems for missile platforms. They are now seeking a Systems Design Engineer to support the development, integration, and verification of critical missile sub-systems. This role sits within the SDMS team, focusing on Seeker architecture, requirements definition, and driving incremental capability enhancements across complex systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop system architecture and design, leveraging Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
- Eliciting, deriving, and managing system requirements throughout the full development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with programme and stakeholder needs.
- Engaging and communicating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including internal Seeker teams, external customers, and key suppliers across MBDA.
- Designing and developing both Physical and Functional Architectures using SysML techniques and industry best practice.
- Supporting the development of Seeker functional and operational concepts, contributing to robust system design solutions.
What do you need?:
- Proven experience in requirements elicitation, definition and lifecycle management
- Demonstrated capability in developing Functional and Physical Architectures using SysML, ARCADIA or equivalent MBSE frameworks
- Strong track record of translating customer requirements into detailed subsystem specifications and complex system architectures
- Consistent delivery of high-quality outputs within agreed project timelines and milestones
- Effective stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams and customers
- Practical experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
- Working knowledge of systems engineering toolsets such as DOORS, DOORS Next, Rhapsody and/or Capella (desirable)
- Exposure to modelling and simulation tools including MATLAB and Simulink (desirable)
- Technical understanding of RF/microwave and electronic systems, including radar, control systems and digital signal processing (desirable)
